- 16bit color is plenty good
- Operating System -
- Windows XP, or XP Pro with latest service pack installed
- Windows Vista (Note: WinXP is preferable to Vista at this time)
- Internet Connection -
- DSL offers several speeds – . (preferred connection)
- 1.5Mb/384K is plenty fast for monitoring 1 or 2 markets simultaneously.
- Note: Do not allow the kids to play Internet video games, sharing your connection while you are trading. If the market gets fast your platform may get behind the market at inconvenient times.
- Go thru your phone company for DSL service
- Avoid 3rd party DSL resellers. Support will likely be awful
- Broadband Wireless Cards – great for backup connection and mobile computers, Can trade with them (my second choice) We have tested Verizon and AT&T.
- Cable-TV based Internet - ok for simulation, but not recommended for live day trading (call Sidney for explanation)
- Satellite- is possible to use but the packet delay is often unacceptable, and worse when markets are volatile (least preferred)
- Dial-up connection (not recommended)
